Last day in Greece

Today, as I were working at the site, me old friend Pirate Daddy looked at me and smiled.

"Do ye know what day this be today?" he asked.

"I can't remember the days any more Pirate Daddy.  It's been so long that we've been away..." I answered.

"Well, yer in luck.  Because today be the last day ye have here in Greece me old mate.  We sail for America tomorrow!"

"Back to see me old mates Theodore and Timothy?"

"Aye," said Daddy.  "Back to yer old crew of scurvy dogs!"

"Shiver me timbers!  Me time has come!!!" I yelled.

So I took one last look at me old maps.

And waved a good bye to the place where I've worked for more than five weeks.

And the table where I sat with Pirate Daddy when he studied his finds.

Then it were out the front door and on my way back to me old home in America.

Get ready Pirate Theodore and Pirate Timothy.  I am on my way to see you and I am bringing all me pirate friends.

Pizza with a Viking

Ahoy thar mateys!

Aye, now it's been some time since I told ye a tale, but Pirate Daddy has been very busy.

So the other night I said, "Pirate Daddy!  Let's take a break and go for dinner."

"Ham night?" he asked.

"Aye, we'll eat some ham, but let's have it on a pizza instead!"

"Now that's the best idea I've heard in days!" said Daddy, so off we went.

Since Pirate Daddy's crew went home, we took Pirate Jona with us and went in search of pizza.

But when we got to the restaurant, I couldn't believe me eyes.

There were someone trapped under the cup at the table!

I looked closer, and yelled to him, "Are ye ok?"  I'll have ye out in a second!

I grabbed a fork and pushed with all me might.  "What if he's not friendly?" asked Jona, and he got out his pistol just in case.

Well, I pushed and pushed until the cup fell over and out came a Viking Pirate!

"Ooooooh!" he said.  "Fresh air at last!  I've been in there all day..."

"I'm Pirate Shortbeard and this is me mate Pirate Jona.  What name might we use for you?"

"I'm Viking Pirate.  And I've been stuck under that glass ever since me crew trapped me and took all me Viking treasure.  I saw them head off with me ship early this morning."

"But morning is long passed.  They will be half the world away by now.  Do you want to join me own pirate crew?  We are taking a ship to America to see me old mates Pirate Timothy and Pirate Theodore in only a few more days."

"Are Theodore and Timothy good pirates or will they leave me like me last crew?"

"Ye need not worry about that, Viking Pirate," I said.  "Timothy and Theodore be the roughest, meanest pirates around.  But they be loyal and true."

"It's a deal," said Viking Pirate.  I'll sail with yer crew, but if I find those dirty rats who stole me treasure, I'll need your help to set things right!"

"Aye, ye have our oath!"

Now let's eat some pizza.  I'll cut the first piece.

Pirate Jona was hungry too.  He ate a whole piece all by himself!

But Viking Pirate, who is from up north, wanted to eat something cold.  So we got him an ice cream.

Lemonade (Pirate Style)

Today, I happened to notice that there were a lemon tree growing outside our hotel.

Pirate Daddy looked busy, so I decided to make him some lemonade.

Here be the directions so you can make some for yourself!

First you have to find a lemon.

Then comes the best part for a pirate.  Pull out yer sword and cut that lemon in half!

Be sure to let out a pirate "Arrrrr!" when ye do it!

Then squeeze out all the juice.

And pour it into a bottle.

Pour in some sugar too!

Then shake it up.  (Maybe later I'll put a message in this bottle and throw her out to sea!)

Give 'er a taste, then put in some ice.

Avast!  Now ye have a tasty glass of lemonade!

Sea Shells

Today Pirate Daddy took a break from work so we could go to the sea.

"Aye!" said I.  "Let's go looking for seashells!"

But Pirate Daddy only had one mask and it didn't fit me.  I couldn't even see out the place for me eyes!

"How's about ye go into the sea and I'll keep the shells ye catch?"

"Arrr," said Daddy.  "That be a good idea indeed."  So off he went into the blue sea.

The first shells he brought back were small.

"Ye can do much better than that Pirate Daddy!"

So he brought me back a couple of urchins.

"Nice and bumpy," said I.  But these aren't shells.

So he brought me this.

"Arrr, Pirate Daddy," said I.  "What need have I with a 'sea potato' nice as it is?"

Then he brought me a real prize.

It were a shell as big as me own self!

"Did ye know?" asked Pirate Daddy, "that if ye hold a sea shell to yer ear, ya can hear tha sea?"

Aye, and it were true.  Even when I put me whole head in the shell!

Games I play

The other day Pirate Daddy told me that Pirate Timothy and Pirate Theodore like to play lots of different games.

So today I want to show you what things there are to do for fun here in Greece.

There are swings in front of the hotel where we stay.

Down the road there is a game called air hockey.  Pirate Daddy says that Pirate Timothy and Pirate Theodore are good at this game, so I need to practice.

Here I am learning how to play.

Then there are little games, but they cost a lot of money.

But, bein' pirates yerself, you know that me favorite game is to play on the boat out in front of the hotel.

Pirate Shortbeard sails again!

Shot out of a cannon!

Today Pirate Daddy took me to a place where they had games we could play.

In one game, we shot foam balls at each other out of a cannon!

"Aye Pirate Daddy" I said.  "This be something I know!"

I jumped atop one of the cannons and yelled "Aim the cannon and FIRE!"

They didn't know what hit them!  We were fierce in the fight together.

Then Pirate Daddy asked if I had ever been to the circus.  "The circus???  What ye be playin' at?"

"Let's shoot YOU out of the cannon!" Pirate Daddy said.

I'll tell you, I were a bit scared, but it sure looked like fun!  So I said.  "Ok!  Let's do it!"

So what do ye think?  Ever seen a pirate fly through the air?

Meeting new friends

So today, I took me new friend Pirate Jona to the place where Pirate Daddy works.  It can get lonely and boring there when Pirate Daddy is working.

For a while Pirate Jona played hide and seek with me.

I hid here in the books, but Pirate Jona found me.  Can you?

And then I hid in the filing cabinets.  Did you find me as easy as Pirate Jona?

Pirate Jona had a hard time finding me among these books.  Did you?

After a while, we got bored and started to play about with Pirate Daddy's artifacts.

Pirate Jona made a copy of his shape on a special tool Pirate Daddy uses to draw.

But then, we found two nice ladies, the likes of which I had never seen before.  They sure looked tough, but they were friendly.

"I'm Pirate Shortbeard," I said.  "And this here be me mate Pirate Jona.  What names might ye go by?"

"We don't have Pirate names." they said.  "Could you give us some?"

"I don't know about that.  But ye look like twins to me," I said.  "I know some twins--Pirate Timothy and Pirate Theodore.  I'll ask them and they can give you pirate names."

So what do you think their names should be?

A New Pirate Friend

Today, while I were down at the beach, I met a new pirate friend.

Let me tell you how it happened.

First, I went to the sea with Pirate Daddy and his crew.  Pirate Tyler set to blowing up a big boat for them to sail about.

While I were waitin' to get on the boat, I noticed a sea creature on the shore.

He were like nothin' I'd ever seen before...he moved very slooooowly, so I sat down to watch him.

It were then that I heard a voice.

"So I see ye met me pet starfish!"

I turned around and there he were.  A pirate like me, but with a pegleg and a funny blue hat.

"Ahoy thar!" I said.  "My name be Pirate Shortbeard!  I'm here with Pirate Daddy and his crew.  What name might I be callin' you?"

"People around these parts call me Pirate Jona!  It be good indeed to see another salty pirate in these parts!  Let me show you around."

Pirate Jona is friends with all the sea beasts what come near the shore.

He showed me an urchin.

And a crab.

And even a tiny fish what were hidin' among the rocks.

"Ye seem like a tough and hardy ol' sea dog," said I.  "Where be your trusty crew?"

"Aye.  There be a sad story indeed," he said.  "I never had me a great crew like you and Pirate Daddy.  But the small crew I did have got lost here among the islands.  I've been searching for them for weeks now but can't find them.  So I've been keepin' meself busy playin' with the sea life here amidst the rocks."

Well as tough a pirate as I am, Pirate Jona's sad tale put a tear in me eye.  Until I thought of what next to say....

"That be a sorry tale indeed Pirate Jona.  But I has me a plan!  What say ye join forces with me own scurvy crew?  We can search together for yer lost shipmates!"

"Aye, now that be quite a plan indeed."

So we went to meet Pirate Daddy's crew.
